The cats
and dogs at the shelter are tested and vaccinated.
Animal Welfare
The
Dearborn County Animal Shelter routinely tests all cats and dogs coming
into the shelter. Dogs and cats are vaccinated as described below.
Puppies and kittens must be of age before being tested, otherwise the
tests are unreliable.
Animals stay at the shelter a minimum of
7 days for observation before they can be adopted out or sent to a
rescue organization. This gives the shelter staff time to
monitor the
condition of the animals and make sure they are not sick.
